From Sales Support to Internal Operations Coordinator: Nick takes the next step within Kébol

No two days are the same, there is plenty of coordination involved, and there is always more to learn about what happens behind the scenes. That is exactly what Nick van der Drift enjoys about his new role at Kébol. After three years in Sales Support, he is taking the next step as Internal Operations Coordinator. A new role that brings together planning, logistics and the connection between the office and the operational floor.

From summer job to a permanent role

Kébol is certainly not new to Nick. Now 25, he first started working in the warehouse for a few weeks during his summer holidays as a teenager. This was followed by administrative work and eventually a permanent position in Sales Support.

It was the variety at Kébol that particularly appealed to him. “I’m someone who likes to stay busy and doesn’t like sitting still. At Kébol, you’re involved in different parts of the company, so no two days are really the same.” Working with colleagues and following the entire process, from arrival to packaging and shipping, also gives him plenty of energy.

Connecting office and operations

In his new role, Nick’s responsibilities are shifting from primarily customer contact towards the internal organisation. An important part of his work is planning around import, export and production in the warehouse. What arrives when? Which products need to be processed on which machines? And is everything ready for shipment on time?

Nick also acts as the link between the office and the warehouse. When an order changes or there are questions about an upcoming shipment, for example, he helps determine what is practically possible. “The great thing is that you gradually get a better understanding of everything that is happening within the company. Questions can now come to one central point, and I make sure they reach the right person.”

Keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly is also part of his role. From machinery to cold storage: whenever something needs attention, Nick brings the right people together.

Gaining more practical experience

The coming period will mainly be about gaining experience. While Nick is already familiar with the administrative side of the business, he now wants to understand how the entire process works in practice.

“Which flowerbulb goes into which crate? How long does a production run take? What do you need to consider when handling an order? I really want to dive deeper and eventually understand exactly how everything within Kébol comes together.”

To achieve this, he works closely with Managing Director Anna-Marie and joins various meetings to gain as much knowledge and experience as possible.

Trust as motivation

Being given the opportunity to shape this new role means a lot to Nick. “There’s a lot of responsibility involved. I’m proud that they’ve entrusted me with this position and believe I can do it.”

For Nick, becoming Internal Operations Coordinator therefore feels like a natural next step within Kébol. It is a role in which he can take on more responsibility, become more involved in the practical side of the business and continue learning how all parts of the company come together.
